Sponsored Giveaway: Moda Bake Shop Progressive Dinner

disclosure: this is a sponsored giveaway by moda fabrics

hey yall.
it's me rachel from p.s. i quilt

so i'm popping over to tell yall a little bit about julie...
let's face it, it's NEVER easy to talk about yourself, but it's SUPER easy to talk about someone else.
am i right or am i right?!?!
:)

1st things first: julie is taller in real life than what yall would expect.
that's one of the first things i ever said to her when we met in real life.
{btw: sorry about that jules.}

2ndly: julie lives in philly.
yep. home of the cheesesteak.
but she doesn't love cheesesteak, she loves candy.
i mean she really loves candy.
yall should ask her about her monster sweet tooth sometime.

and lastly: she's an amazing quilter/designer/blogger.
she's been featured in/on a few of our fav magazines.
she even got to hang out with mark lipinski.
yeah THE mark lipinski...she's THAT cool.

i could go on & on, but yall should stick around to get to know her.
she's so cool she could melt ice cubes.
for real.

Hi Julie! Congrats on your inclusion in this sure to be wonderful book. Right now my favorite pre-cuts are layer cakes. I think they offer great versatility, and have used them in two cute tops, as well as a pieced back over the last few months. I'm so glad you asked us to go look at your MBS projects, as I missed one, which turns out to be my favorite, and that is your "The Candy Box" quilt. So cute! Looking forward to making it, perhaps one of the two baby quilts I have coming up in the next few months.

First of all: congrats on the book!

And speaking about the rules...:)
I love FQ's and FE's bundles in general (I feel comfortable buying them, when I love particular print more than others I just buy more yardage), now I wait patiently when Sherbet Pips hit the stores:)
I love your Sweetwater Flower Table Runner - it's so unique and beautiful.

Love the chocolates! My favorite tutorial of yours is the Play School Quilt. Simple and beautiful. I am a jelly roll junkie.

Jaci said...

Charm packs use to be my favorite, now I am leaning more towards the layer cakes. Both are wonderful.
I made my mom your coupon wallet and she LOVES it! In my "projects to do" list I have one for me as well.

Rosalie said...

I have only used a charm pack precut, but I am hooked! I would love to try a jelly roll. I think my favorite pattern from MBS of yours would be the cushion couture or the coupon clutch!

Magicaldamselfly said...

I love all the pre-cuts because I've had a carpal tunnel release in both hands and this sure does make life so much easier for me but I think my fav at this moment is the honey buns that I'm working with right now.
As for your recipes, I so love the "Play School Quilt" I'm forever making baby quilts for any and all of my daughters friends and now some for my oldest grand daughters friends so there is never an end to the need for them.
I also love taking my scraps and turning them into quilts that I can take the the women's shelter and to the homeless shelters and those scraps work awesome for making the letters for this "Play" quilt.
Happy sewing everyone.

Well, I'll be honest and say that I have never used Moda precuts, so I don't know which one is my favorite, but I love the fat quarters that I have purchased at my local quilt shop. (I'm a novice; I made 2 quilts, a pincushion, and 6 aprons in 2010, my first year of sewing, yay!) And I'm in love with quilts, so I would have to say that I like your baby quilts the best; they're darling! Anyway, congratulations on the book! That is sooo exciting!

Kathy H said...

My favorite precut is the charm pack. I have found several patterns for them. I think once I find some patterns for the other precuts, I will like them more also. I love the coupon clutch from your patterns. It looks too pretty to use just for coupons. I remember when you posted about the pillow shams too and they were really pretty as well. Thanks for the chance to win in your giveaway.

Congrats on the book!! My favorite pre-cut would be the layer cake because its big enough for anything. My favorite of yours is the Life Cycle blanket.

Jen said...

Well, my favorite precut is a tie between charm packs and turnovers! I love the turnovers because they're so handy, especially considering they're sized to be compatible with charm packs! Unfortunately, they must not have been super popular because they only came out in a handful of lines, and none recently :(

My favorite project of your on the Bakeshop is the Tula Pink Hushabye baby quilt, hands down!

I really like the big pincushion. I'm glad I stopped in here as I had forgotten I had saved that project and I need a big pincushion to put by my new longarm. I think I like fat quarters best since I'm so indecisive when buying fabric.

Picking just one precut is hard but I think jelly rolls are my pick at least for today. My favorite project has to be the big pincushion. I love projects which help use up scraps. This one is perfect and it makes a great gift to add to the quilt from which the scraps came.

I love Moda fabrics, and the pre-cuts are such a grand idea. My favorite is fat quarter bundles, but I've used more charm packs - great way to see and touch and use every fab in the entire line! My fav project of yours would have to be the life quilt, with the name applique in the middle, or the giant pincushion. I'm always so intrigued by the sew this, bend this around, sew this and wahh-lahh a really cool something! Thanks for the giveaway. kcquiltr@gmail.com

The candy box quilt is my favorite for sure. Is there a pre-cut you don't like? I think they are all great. My favorite is the fat quarter bundle but when I can't afford to buy one of those, I go for a layer cake. The charm packs are cute and hard to resist too. Thanks for a giveaway. I'm looking forward to seeing all the projects when the book comes out.

I love the Candy Box quilt! It's on my to-do/wish list of stuff to make. My little girl would love it!

I really can't pick just one precut. My very first precut I used was a charm pack, and I loved it! Right now, I think it's Layer Cakes. I just made a super cute quilt for my new little niece from a Layer Cake, and it turned out super cute. And was really easy with the precut!

Congrats on the book! I'm so excited for this book to come out!

Tracey said...

It's a toss up for me between the Candy Box quilt and Cushion Couture, I plan to make both.

As for my favorite pre-cut, that's a hard one. I currently have WIPs using charm packs, jelly rolls and layer cakes! If I have to pick one it would be a jelly roll. (That's today's pick because I {may have} said something different while visiting others during this progressive dinner!)

Crafty Mama said...

hmm, tough choice to name my favf precut, I guess fat eigths right now, but I swear that changes weekly:p I've also been collecting lots of layer cakes lately:-)
And since I have a huge sweet tooth as well, my fav project of yours would have to be Candy box:-)

Love your Sweetwater Flower Table Runner! I'm new to precuts, but I would most like to try layer cakes, which are large enough to use in bags. Thanks for putting on this giveaway.

Pamela said...

Chocolate is always a must at my house, so I'll be trying yours too. Favorite precut..love them all because they save so much time when cutting, but my OVERALL FAVORITE IS THE LAYER CAKE, because the pieces are shorter than when using a jellyroll. For your Moda project..I'm trying to decide between the pillows and flower table runner because I love the authentic fabric with those colors. Sooo my decision comes down to the FLOWER TABLE RUNNER. It's such a unique design. Thanks for sharing.

Julie said...

My favorite of your projects is Life Cycles Quilt. I love to make "memory" quilts, crafty projects of all kinds with notes, and signatures... Just love this idea!!! My favorite precuts... probably Charm pack... (today) though I switch all too often! Depending on what has inspired me! I am also tall, 6', my dad is 6' 7.5". People always make a big deal about it... but that just means we can utilize more wall space for stash right!?!?

Congratulations for being chosen for the book! I love your coupon clutch and actually made one. Hi there!
What delicious looking chocolates!
I love your moda bake shop tutorials, probably my favourite is the play quilt, but I also really love your fabric choices for the other tutorials too. I use a lot of charm packs for baby quilts as they give a really lovely perspective of the colours and patterns in a particular range, and they are also less expensive
Hope you have a great day

Well, I am only now making my first ever quilt and using a layer cake -so that is my experience with precuts. But I can see that charm packs would be so handy - but fat quarters would give me lots of fabric for my stash. :-)As for a pattern - I had been eyeing that Play school quilt, but hadn't seen the Life cycles quilt before - that one is better for my kids ages...One or the other for sure!

My current favorite pre-cut is the fat quarter - you can do so many different projects with one (or a bundle)! I love your Play School quilt - it seems like it wouldn't be too difficult for a beginner (me) to put together, and I also love the colors you used in yours! Thanks for the chance!

I think my favorite project of yours is the Flower Table Runner, with the Cushion Couture being a close second. And as for precuts, right now I'm really loving jelly rolls and layer cakes, with jelly rolls edging out the layer cakes!

Congrats to you for being in the book, and thanks for the opportunity to win one!

Right now, my fav pre-cut is a layer cake. Of course, it changes depending on what I'm working on most at the time. Your Candy Box quilt is pretty darn sweet. I think it just might be my favorite. So glad to know you're a part of the book. So many of my fav bloggers are in the book and that makes me happy. Yeah MBS!

I think my favorite of yours is the cushion. I love jelly rolls partially because I find them visually yummy and am currently using a charm pack by sandi gervais to make my daughter the valentines banner.

Jelly Rolls are my favorite precut, especially since I've started using them for bindings. Your Giant Pincushions are wonderful!

Tottery said...

I love fat quarter bundles because the options are endless and there's usually enough leftovers for other projects. Since I can't exactly afford those all the time, I would have to say layer cakes are next in line because I can cut them up and get 4 charm packs, or have the freedom to do anything else with them. *whew* That was long, huh?

I LOVE your pin cushion - it's actually the first pin cushion I ever made. I have also been inspired by your baby signature quilt and am making something similar for my nephew.

Your cushions from "Cushion Couture" is on my list of to-dos once I make the quilt for my bed. )I've made a number of quilts, but I've never actually made one for myself! That's my New Year's resolution this year.) I'm also a HUGE fan of the charm packs, though that may be because that's all I've ever gotten. ;)

Congrats on the book!

ok, so I atually have several of your MBS patterns saved to my computer to do, but have yet to do them. But my favorite one that i want to do and now that I am thinking about it, it might be the one I start on next is your candy box quilt. Just sew cute!! I can't imagine how it will look in some different fabrics! As far as my favorite pre-cut, I have to say it is charm square simply because of the price of it, being a stay at home mom limits my funds to buy the bigger ones very often. I think I would probably LOVE layer cakes even more if I had access to them, I have seen tons of patterns for them that I think are so great, but don't do because they are layer cakes. Can't wait to see your quilt in this book, I always love your patterns, and I am sure I will love this one too!!

Thanks for your wonderful tutorial on how to make your handmade chocolates. It looks easy enough that maybe even I could try it.

I've only ever used charm packs but I used to do plenty of strip quilting so it wouldn't be a stretch to try out Jelly rolls or or honey buns.

I'd have to say that I really like your pincushion design.

I love following you, and super excited you are on this tour. I can't wait to see what your project is. In the moda shop I like the Cushion Couture idea. I would love to make that into blocks for a larger project. This is exactly what I'm into at the moment. As for my fav pre-cut. I pick up charm packs and jelly rolls as that is what people have. I would love to have a fat quarter bundle for a larger project. Thanks again for letting me stop by.

My favorite pre-cut has to be the charm pack. I love that one charm pack and a yard or two will create such a sweet baby quilt or bag or table runner (you get the idea!)My favorite tutorial of yours hands down is the Play baby quilt. I have made this quilt in an afternoon and loved it. I even cut more out and have them bagged up for a quick project. Thank you!

Greetings! and thanks for the invite! My favorite of your tutorials on the bakeshop has to be the sweetwater flower table runner....it's VERY sweet. I even made it :) However DH doesn't do flowers and so I gave it away to a friend who uses it faithfully.
My favorite moda precut has to be the layercake. Just an all around GREAT size for having a piece of each fabric in a collection. I can cut them into strips if I want to do a strip project (6 1 1/2 in strips, 4 2 1/2 in strips, 4 5" squares, and the list goes on....) I often order layercakes and then figure out what I'm going to do with them!!

Hi Julie, It's great to organize a giveaway MODA Bakeshop like this, Oops! I meant to say a Progressive Dinner.
I've been watching your project and it really is hard to pick one, because they are all very cute, but of course, such as most things in life should be choose from, so I'll tell you which ones to my favorite, I like Cushion Couture, The Candy Box, Giant Pincushions, Coupon Clutch and ... the Coasters of Family Traditions are very fun. You see, I put almost all your designs, this is what happens to the quilter-a-holic, everything we like.
You also asked about our pre-cut favorite, I love all Moda pre-cut are fantastic, is an extraordinary way to have a complete collection of fabrics with a low cost, and so that you can make each project with a different collection.
I really love a fat quarter bundle, but if I must choose the thinking clever, I prefer one jelly roll and one layer cake, both from the same collection, then you have no problems with any project.
Well, I cross my fingers, I hope to be lucky.
Regards from Spain.

I think charm packs are my favorite. I love all pre-cuts but maybe since these are the least expensive, that is why I indulge in them the most.

Thirdly, I love your Essence Turnover Topper. Someone recently gifted me with a couple of turnovers, so I've been looking for something to make with them!
