WHAT TYPES OF FABRICS AND DESIGNERS DOES YOUR SHOP CARRY?
HOW DO YOU SELECT YOUR FABRICS?
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THIS CRAZY BUSINESS?
WHAT DO YOU WANT CUSTOMERS TO KNOW ABOUT YOU AND YOUR SHOP?
Thanks Wendy!
I love when she said "We only buy it IF we love it!" I think that is a great way to choose the items for a shop or for a personal stash. We all know we have much more fun sewing when we really love the fabric we are working with!
About Wendy Ladd & The Fabric Quarter
We carry an eclectic blend of contemporary quilting fabrics that have an edgy flair - featuring today’s top fabric designers and manufacturers. We closely follow the quilting blogesphere so that we can stay current with the upcoming design and color trends.
Today’s contemporary quilting fabrics present a wide variety of “big color” and big print themes to sophisticated muted blue, brown and gray tones you see in the environment. We try to balance the color spectrum in the collections we select while staying focused on the contemporary and modern collections.
We also stocks a large selection of Kona Cotton solids and RJR Cotton Supreme solids. We carry a wide variety of basics, blenders, and tonal fabrics to to accompany any project.
Our philosophy is simple: We only buy it IF we love it! When I only "like it" and can pass it up, chances are good that others will feel the same way. Its a philosophy that my grandmother taught me when I was very young and helps me stay on target. Being true to this philosophy helps me make good, strong choices, and select fabrics that you'll want to look at for years to come.
My background is in business management and marketing. I have worked for high-tech and online software companies for years offering marketing, web-related production and creative art direction services. Design and art has always been my passion. When I started sewing I fell in love with the business of fabric, and immediately felt a draw to using my business skills to start a business. It was a little random but being a Gemini, I loved the adventure. Quilting, sewing and knitting run in my family so its really not as crazy as it seems for me to be drawn quilting.
Customer service is a number one priority for us. Having had a retail shop, I understand that while shopping online is easy, it lacks personal interaction and the excitement that comes with selecting fabric in person. Our customers can call us and discuss projects and possible options, and we'll help with making the right choice for their work. Sometimes that means doing research online with the customer, and sometimes its just helping them choose a pattern or getting over a color choice. We also have very competitive prices and add a free gift to every order. We want to create loyalty and share in the happiness that quilting brings our customers.
I love when she said "We only buy it IF we love it!" I think that is a great way to choose the items for a shop or for a personal stash. We all know we have much more fun sewing when we really love the fabric we are working with!

I find the time to sew wherever I can. It helps tremendously that I am retired and can pop into my sewing room throughout the day while the rest of my house is falling apart or being buried under dust.
I never find the time to be crafty...I make it. :)

I try to squeeze in freemotion quilting practice when I can. I've got a pile of small quilt sandwiches by the machine. I can get in a few minutes here and there, between commercials, while on hold on the phone, etc. I heard that by regular practice I'll get better. Here's hoping.

I make time to be crafty by putting off my housework, it will be there when I find time to do it.
I try to set aside time to quilt. Wednesday nights are my usual quilt night and Weekends when I am not really busy.
I have to set aside time for crafting and sewing. I work long hours at a hospital, so I try to get the small things in life done during the short bits of free time i have on work days, and then carve out an afternoon on a day I'm not working, to sew and make a mess. I have to do it this way because i don't have a craft room, so it all goes on the kitchen table.

I find the time to quilt by rushing through the housework - I really live by the motto "my house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy".

How do I find time to quilt/craft/be creative? Well, let's just say that sleep is overrated. ;-)

How do I find time to be crafty? My new attempt at this is to take a 15 or 30 minute "quilting break" sometime during each day. Not as satisfying as I'd like, but it helps! My next idea is to set aside one afternoon per week that is "quilting time."

I adore Laura Gunn's fabrics - thanks for the opportunity to win such a gorgeous bundle!
I have very little me time with full time job, taking care of elderly mother, and babysitting grand-kids. But when I do have a free evening, I relax by quilting. It is easier in the winter months because summer brings outdoor activities and gardening. I really need to retire.
I find it really hard to make some time to craft, and get quite grumpy about it! I always feel too tired at night so tend to spend evenings catching up with blogs.
I'm trying to plan in an hour just for crafting as soon as I've dropped my little one off at preschool and before I get sidetracked by chores - watch this space!
I can only stitch in the late night.

I love your facebook page, so colorful! I work full time, work for a volunteer ambulance service in a rural county, but I still find time to sew and knit on top of all my other quirks I like to do. So much to do and so little time. I have a supportive husband which help. Thanks for this chance to win such beautiful fabric.

Oh gosh, finding time to be crafty? In all honesty, sometimes I choose crafting over sleep. It's the only time I get on some days. Pathetic? Perhaps. But it's just as rejuvenating as a good nap!

I just started a blog today and posted my first blog....this will be my second when I post your giveaway!
I have a full-time job but I still make the time for my crafting and creating.......I look at it as "keeping my sanity time"!
I find time to quilt when my 3 kiddos are all sleeping (I say the "stars align" when I get my 3.5 year old, 2 year old and 3 month old to all sleep at the same time. Otherwise I quilt in the evenings or when my husband will watch them. Thanks for the giveaway!
I like the Fabric Quarter Quilt Shop on Facebook now too!
I tell my kids to skit skat so I can sew.
Hmmm... time to sew? What's that! I stay up until the wee hours of the morning and try to avoid buying pants that need hemming and take up my time!

What a great giveaway!
My husband golfs Saturdays, so Saturday became MY day too - I do what I want, which, after taking the dogs out for a LONG hike, is usually piecing or quilting. I'm lucky to get 10 minutes any other day, but I can usually glom onto 4-8 hours on Saturday ... Mine, ALL mine!!
I posted your giveaway on my blog!
I only have my husband and father to care for now. this leaves scads of time to quilt/knit. But early in the day is best for me. thanks for the chance~awesome fabric!

Don't anyone squeal to my husband, but i get up early and putter around in my sewing room about an hour each morning before i go to work. he's asleep, so he doesn't feel neglected, and i LOVE starting my day with a little craftiness!!!
I squeeze in my crafty time on lunch breaks/free evenings/weekends! :)
My sewing area is in an alcove in between the kitchen, dining room, and bedrooms - in between all the action. So when the kids are playing peacefully, I run in for a minute or two of sewing!

I find time for crafting by not letting else get in the way! Two afternoons a week, that's what I work on. the house just gets dirty anyway, so whether or not I clean it, it will still be dirty. But if I don't make anything in my craft time, then that is something that truly never gets made. Don't let anyone tell you your crafts are a waste of time!
Thanks for the heads up on another awesome shop Julie. I really am starting to love the brighter fabrics and would love to win that bundle of gorgeous colors.

How *I* find time to be crafty? The ONLY way I can do that is by shutting down my Outlook program and/or my computer entirely to avoid the temptation to read my emails and all the blogs I love reading each day.

I have signed up for the newsletter! They have a great selection of fabrics.
I don't find time for sewing or crafting everyday, but I am lucky enough to have a separate sewing room where I can leave my projects "up and running". Even if I only have 15 minutes I can pop in and sew a few seams. Cutting out is my least favorite part of sewing, so when my daughter comes to visit she helps me cut out several projects. We bag or box and label them and store them with the pattern/directions. I know which projects are fairly mindless sewing (okay for a day with mental fatigue issues) and others that require more time and concentration.
I signed up for the newsletter. The fabrics in the giveaway are gorgeous.
My children are grown so I don't have that issue. I usually sew in the afternoons and sometimes in the evening. I like to do handwork in the evening while watching tv.
